Happy International Women's Day 2025!!

Hello there Beauties!

Yesterday, March 8th, we celebrated International Women's Day under the theme "Accelerate Action." Each year on IWD, I feel so proud to be a woman. I watch with extreme joy all the women on my timeline celebrating and being celebrated. Even if I am not where I want to be in life, I usually take the time to celebrate all the wins I can have; thanks to all the great women who have paved the paths we're now walking. According to their website, the theme is explained as follows, "Accelerate Action, emphasises the significance of taking immediate and urgent action to achieve gender equality. It advocates for more momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women experience, both personally and professionally."

Now what does the theme "Accelerate Action" mean to me? 

Honestly, it means just go hard. In everything you do. In every aspect of your life. In every action, in every task, in every project, in every meeting, in every assignment, in every post, in every video. Go hard. Give it all you got. Don't put off anything for another day. There is this quote I saw once that put procrastination into perspective for me. It said something like, "You're worrying about doing something that will take 6 months to complete, but the 6 months will pass anyway." This basically emphasises the fact that time waits on no one; it will pass with or without you making the best use of it. So, do that thing. Do your best. Dot it now. Give it your all. 

Anyway, I wanna share one of my poems with you. It's called "Self-Love" and it feels like a warm hug on International Women's Day. By the way, this poem is part of a collection called "Rose-Coloured Tears" and it is indeed available on Amazon. 

Self-Love

I wanna wrap myself in a hug
And project onto the inner child
In her a deserving love
She's been unfairly cheated out of 
All these years.
I wanna wipe her tears
And heal all the deep wounds
Of her heart,
Of her body, of her mind with
Gauzes, Band-Aids and of course, 
Love.

I wanna speak loudly, clearly
Into a deaf, unwilling ear
A positivity so profound
It is mind blowing; 
And almost believable.

I wanna wrap myself in a hug
And praise the resilience seen in her,
Acknowledging the generations of strong women
Who built her unbreakable foundation.
I wanna allow her to see herself
Through the windows of my soul: 
Unstoppable.
A powerhouse; titanium-made.
Worthy.

I wanna fall to my knees in her presence
And tell her, "Baby, you got this!"
Royalty.
Listen to the soft hum of her heart,
And her sobs in awe.
Because queen, the storm must rage on;
"You're the kind they name storms after."
Powerful.

I wanna wrap myself in a cocoon so tight,
The whispers of love cannot escape.
They must be felt; trapped.
"I love you -- ALL of you."
Keep going.

Hello there Beauties!  I think we should all aim to be self-aware in 2026. They often say that comparison is the thief of joy, but it is much, much deeper than that. During the Christmas/New Year holiday, a popular Jamaican social media influencer was allegedly arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States of America. Why he was arrested, I don’t know because I don’t care to know the details (largely because it’s not my business). The responses to this and about this on Jamaican social media has been….. strange (for lack of a better word). The lack of empathy towards the situation has been quite concerning. People are saying if he was committing crimes to be able to live a certain lifestyle, then he deserves it, and other things along that line. What stood out most to me though, is that there were people saying these influencers show a fake life on social media that discourages the 9-5 lifestyle, meanwhile their own life that they’re showing is unattainable. ...

“Hol’ Up Yuh Stress?” No Boss. 🚫

Hello there Beauties! “Hol’ up yuh stress!” That’s one of the most toxic statements I’ve ever heard on the internet, besides “weh yah bawl fa? yah b*ttyman?”  Honestly, one of the reasons we have so many mentally unstable Jamaican men is because mothers and fathers are not raising emotionally stable men. Jamaican men are so toxic that they associate being aware of and in tune with your emotions with being gay, and that’s the root cause of many of our issues.  At what point did we reduce identifying, acknowledging, validating, feeling, and combatting our emotions to pure femininity? Oh dem inna dem “soft girl era” but when that man loses his mind, you’re complaining?  Let’s think logically here.
